How TapGuessr scoring works
Every TapGuessr round is five clues, and each tap is scored the same way: by how far it lands from the answer. Here is exactly how it works.
Distance is everything
Each tap is worth up to 100 points. Land within 25 km of the answer and it's a bullseye: the full 100. Beyond that, points fall away smoothly with distance:
| Distance from the answer | Points |
|---|---|
| 250 km | 88 |
| 500 km | 78 |
| 1,000 km | 61 |
| 2,000 km | 37 |
| 5,000 km | 8 |
The curve is steep at first and flattens out, so being in the right region always pays, even when you can't pin the exact spot.
Hints lower the ceiling, not your score
Every clue has two hints. The first usually narrows things to a region, and the second names the country or a nearby city. Each hint you open lowers that clue's maximum: 100 with no hints, 75 with one, 50 with two. A good tap with a hint still beats a wild guess without one.
Later clues are worth more
Clues get harder as the round goes on, so they count for more:
| Clue | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Multiplier | ×1 | ×1 | ×2 | ×2 | ×4 |
A perfect day is 100 + 100 + 200 + 200 + 400 = 1,000 points. The last clue alone can swing your score by 400, so it's worth taking your time over.
The tiles
Your result is a row of tiles you can share without spoiling anything:
- 🎯 Bullseye (100)
- 🟢 Close (80–99)
- 🟡 Ballpark (50–79)
- 🟠 Far (20–49)
- 🔴 Way off (0–19)
A 💡 after a tile means you used a hint on that clue. Tiles show how good the tap itself was, before any hint cap, so a hinted bullseye is still a 🎯.
